I've been quietly doing my own thing with Dion Fortune for some years now, may I ask is anyone else being nudged very hard to move to Glastonbury to do something new with her work?

Hello Katie, a very warm welcome to our site, and so pleased it feels right for you. Whilst I don't feel drawn to move to Glastonbury (much though I love it) I do believe, as Nova has said that Dion Fortune is very active at the moment and there is a need to bring through new impulses from her work. No doubt that will manifest in different ways for each of us, and perhaps Glastonbury is the place for you.

In some ways, our tor meditation is a sort of ' war letters, the next generation' . She used paper because that's all she had, and we believe that were she working on this plane now, she would make good use of t'internet, so here we are. And let's see what comes of it!

Welcome! It is wonderful to envision all those involved in Dion Fortune's work gathering together in person at Glastonbury! We could certainly bring about something magical and marvellous. I believe, though, that gathering together on the astral plane within the Tor and taking part in the shared meditation will have a significant and positive effect, not least because of all the previous work undertaken there by Dion Fortune and her magical Fraternity. I think she has much still to teach us!

OK, right I think I've got a grip on how this 'forum' thing works but do excuse me if I drop random comments in odd places, I'm afraid I get terribly confused around these online discussion thingies and avoid them like the plague, but, well ... this is about Dion Fortune!

So, hello everyone and thank you for such lovely warm replies.

I feel sure that everyone involved *will* gather at Glastonbury, sooner or later. I appreciate that we can visit places on the inner planes but sometimes, do you think that one's own energy field has to be *at* a place to achieve certain results? It seems to me that the force generated by each person can be used to focus energies from above and below to merge and be used to create balance throughout us and the planet?

For me at least, when I'm doing a ritual on the top of a mountain or other specific location in the dead of night, it's a hell of a lot more pokey than sitting in my Temple room at home visualising it... but then I'm an outdoors kinda gal

I am staying at Chalice Well this weekend and intend to take the Tor Meditatons with me... I usually write up my notes in a book, shall I put some in here if anything notable transpires?

Oh yes, I am with you there. There is something about some locations that enhance meditations and other magical work. I find it does not have to be a well known site. For me it can be some quiet place, seldom visited by others - that place that just draws one back again and again. I found one such place that drew me - then it very quickly took a part in indoor meditations too - but that does not replace my visits to the place.

Whilst I say it does not have to be a well known site - Chalice Well, wow, now that's a good place. Do let us know how it goes and, above all, enjoy it!

Nice to make contact with you and a warm welcome to our group.

Well as I am undoubtedly the outdoor girl here I thought I would give you my thoughts on your question about indoors or outdoors.

I believe that our inner contacts can be reached wherever we are whether it be a Temple or outside and it will achieve the same result.

Just for background I've worked with groups (and alone) for many years doing outdoor ritual at all times and places; in broad daylight, night time, in between times (great for faery), woodland, moorland, oceans edge stone circles and so on, and in all kinds of weather. I've also done a lot of Temple work. I find outdoor working can invoke some wonderful contacts with the spirits of the land and locality as well as the physical living things of the Land and the elements, which seem to respond with often astounding synchronicity. Therefore I tend to use outdoor ritual more for seasonal festivals for which they are entirely suited. However seasonal workings can be very effective in a temple setting too. I also find different times of the day and night are more suitable depending on the type of seasonal working.

So the choice of location can depend very much on what the purpose of the ritual or meditation is and the ease with which the meditation's objective can be achieved within the chosen environment.

For a meditation like the Tor I do not believe that it makes a difference apart from personal preference and inclination and it is up to the individual to decide what is best for them. The important thing is to be comfortable and undisturbed (and nature and the weather can be an engaging distraction) and be able to link into the subject of the meditation and maintain it with intent. Intent is always the key.

I imagine if I were staying at Chalice Well, I would undoubtedly choose a place in the gardens or beside the well, so long as I know I will not be disturbed or pelted with hailstones! Although that can always be viewed as a challenge... And I personally would also go up the Tor and try and find the place that feels like the entrance in the Tor meditations. But again that is a personal thing and not necessary for these meditations.

Hope you enjoy your stay. Yes do report back on any realisations, that would be lovely. I am off to Malvern this weekend, some lovely connections to be made there.

I'm just dropping by to say how much I'm enjoying the website. I've tried the Tor Meditation quite a few times now. There seems to be a lot of energy moving around there. It also seems to have melded quickly with other work and meditations.
Peter, I recently bought a copy of Watkin's 'The Old Straight Track', but haven't read it yet. I'll come back and let you know of any developments on that.

Welcome, Margaret, to the Companions of Dion Fortune! Good to have you with us and it's great to hear that you're taking part in the Tor meditation. I think others are also finding that it fits in quite easily with other work that they are doing, perhaps because Glastonbury and the Tor are so central to the magical tradition of these islands. Which of course is something we always knew - but Dion Fortune's meditation really does seem to get to the heart of it.

I wonder if you've come across the Network of Ley Hunters? They publish a newsletter, organise Moots, and their website is at http://www.networkofleyhunters.com

There certainly seems to be some push at present to progress matters started by Dion Fortune. I do not think that necessarily requires folk to be at Glastonbury, at least on the outer.

I thought you might like to hear about an interesting snippet of information . The publishers of DF’S Magical Battle of Britain have noticed that sales of this book have really increased over the last few months. There might be a number of reasons for this of course, however it does seem that the work of DF is coming through very strongly at the moment.

I hope this means that people are contributing to the Tor Meditations!
